Time Will Tell is out

Twelve songs from Kommetjie. The third album, made at home with Adrian Fowler, is out now.

Time Will Tell is out

Time Will Tell is out. Twelve songs. Just under thirty-eight minutes. I made this one at home, in the quiet after the road, with Adrian Fowler in the room the way he has been for years.

If you are new here: I write from Kommetjie, a small surfing village near Cape Town. The ocean is not a backdrop. It sets the pace. You wait. You listen. You do not pull the seed up every morning to see if it has grown.

A third album

Subtle Affection took us out. Europe, the long drives, the sold rooms, then home again. Time Will Tell is what we brought back. Richer in the low end. Closer in the words. Still the same salt and sun, still the feel-good pull, but with more of the inside of the day left in.

The songs are short on purpose. Most of them live around three minutes. I wanted a record you could hold in one sitting: a walk to the water, a drive over the mountain, the kettle on.

The songs

New Day and Tied Up have already been out in the world. The rest belongs to the album. Simple Living. Plant A Seed. ASLEEP UNDERWATER. Echoes. The titles meant what they said when we tracked them.

  1. Time Will Tell
  2. Been A Long Time
  3. Inside My Head
  4. Conflict
  5. New Day
  6. Bloom
  7. Plant A Seed
  8. ASLEEP UNDERWATER
  9. Tied Up
  10. Day Dreamer
  11. Simple Living
  12. Echoes

The cover is full of the same weather as the music. Water, birds, a sun, a path. If you have stood on this coast, you will recognise it.

Listen here: Time Will Tell. The rest of the records live on the Listen page. Dates, when they are up, are on Tour.
